Unhappy Re: Lots of problems out of nowhere on Window

Should I redownload drivers for my printer and my camera and my mp3 player? They are all not working. It's like there is no plug and play capability. What shall I do?

Your lucky your PC even boots. Almost all of your services are disabled. Set 'Universal Plug and Play Device Host' to automatic and start it. You will need someone else to tell you exactly what else to turn on/off.

Um, ok, how do I do that? In the same box as the themes?

Restore points are set in XP by default.

Go - Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - "Restore my computer to an earlier time" - follow wizard.

If that doesn't work 'cos you seem to have a few problems do this:

Go:

Start - Run - (type) sfc /scannow (with the space)(Enter)

sfc = System File Checker restores files to their correct state.

This may require you to put in your XP CD.

To batscott

Go here to Black Vipers web site, he has the best guide for what services need to be turned off safely.

In your your case, print the webpage out, and keep it beside you when you change them back to the default settings.

When you have them back to normal, then you can turn off the unneeded services from BV's guide...
