Default unusual load beeps

Hi.
Has anyone had this problem?
I get a series of low pitch beeps about every hour for a second or two no matter what's running.
It's not a system beep, much lower in freguency. Everything else is working fine, good audio for all playbacks.
I don't have a system speaker attached to the motherboard. The sound comes thru my Sound Blaster powered
speakers, even with the volume off. The motherboard is ASUS P5N73-AM w/ 4gb ram Intel E8400 processor using XP Pro.
The sound is onboard VIA High Definition Audio.
This is what I tried so far.
Re-installed all drivers from ASUS CD including VIA audio driver
Re-installed motherboard chip set
Updated flash bios
Disabled system beep in the registry HKCU\Control Panel\Sound\ Beep data set to "no"
Disabled beep in Device Manager\View\Show hidden devices\Non-Plug and Play Drivers\Beep "disabled"
Tried different set of speakers
None of the above fixed it. It also was there in Safe Mode.
It's driving me crazy. It's loud, volume adjustment has no effect.
Thanks.

Are you 100% sure that it is coming through your speakers, have you tried disconnecting them totally by unplugging them from the audio jack?

is the 'Beep' like the post 'Beep' you get when you first turn on the pc?

my thoughts are that this sounds like a temperature alarm, or fan fail alarm, however this would be through the motherboard piezoelectric speaker so if you answer yes to my first question then you totally sink my theory

The speakers were unplugged from power, and unplugged from the computer, 100%. That's the only time it doesn't beep. I hooked up a complete different set of speakers, and it came back again. It's nothing like the post beep, it's much lower in pitch. Two or three short sounds twice for a total of 2 seconds. Then it will do it again in an hour or so.
Thanks.

Hi.
I narrowed it down to an interference external to the PC.
I disconnected the power cord from the PC. I also pulled all connections to the PC
from the powered speakers. The noise still came back every 45 minutes to an hour.
I am happy that the noise didn't actually come from the PC.
I'll continue disconnecting all other electronic devices near or even not so near to
the powered speakers one at a time until I find the source.
I've already tried the following so far.
I unplugged the Fios router, the cable box, a 2nd computer, DVD/VCR recorder, and TV.
As a last resort, I'll try contacting the electric company, maybe they can find the source.
Any more suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks again for your help.

Solved!
It was a cell phone!!
I should have looked closer. My wife just got a free Tracfone, a cheap one. We haven't even used it yet, so it didn't ring. It was hidden under some papers about two feet away from the speakers. I moved it away, and voila! Sound gone!
Thanks for all your trouble.
Regards,
