Hello, I've been having this issue for almost a year now. With any game that I buy that uses bink video, any videos in the game (such as intro videos) either lag like crazy or have skipping audio and are unwatchable. This is every game that I've bought since Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead does not have this problem. Sometimes if I replace the binkw32.dll file that came with the game with the one from Left 4 Dead it'll work, sometimes it won't and sometimes I can't replace it (for instance Eve Online has this problem and I can't replace it because it won't let me play the game).
My system specs:
Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2 GB PC3200 DDR Ram
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS
160 GB 7200 RPM HD
500 GB SATA HD (the one Windows is installed on)
Soudn Blaster Creative X-Fi sound card
Nvidia Nforce 4 motherboard
All drivers are the latest version. Computer has no spyware/adware and has been defragmented recently. Have all Windows updates. Can anybody help me with this issue? Someone suggested disabling AMD Cool N Quiet. I tried that and it didn't help, and some games like Empire Total War would crash upon launch. This is driving me nuts! I can play almost any game that's come out no problem (at least adequately) but I can't play any videos in said game. I don't have this problem outside of the game, just while playing the game.
