Question "Sec Slave Drive ATAPI INCOMPATIBLE "

My Grandmother just bought a new dell computer with the latest upgrades and parts so she gave me her old computer this computer is quite old it is a: AMD Duron 1.3Ghz (I can overclock to 1.8Ghz) 384MB DDR Ram, 4 USB 2.0 Ports, Rage 128 (video Card Tempory removed for trouble shooting) 30GB hard drive DVD-RW-DL. I got her computer booted it and and it said it couldn't locate a hard drive so i switched the guts from on computer case to another and it gave me the same B.S. about being unable to locate the hard drive so i switched out cable and did everything i could and i still couldn't get it to work but got a diffrent message the new error message is "Sec Slave Drive ATAPI INCOMPATIBLE press F1 to resume" what can i do about this issue?

With a 30gb hdd it has to be IDE which also sounds like it's dead.

How is the hard drive structure configured at the moment?

Thanks WolfeyMole For responding but i just now figured out the issue and resolved it, it was Power Supply Failure, The 400W power supply was replaced not so long ago but it died therefore my hard drive was only getting enough power to be discovered but not determined what it's function was but know i swapped out the 400w for a 500w power supply and it worked like a charm also i removed one optical drive, now i come across the issue with my video card, but i think I'm just going to scrap it and use on board graphics. but thanks Thumbs Up Mate
