Unhappy Hi to All and XP SP3 Problem

HI to ALL!
I an first a senior citizen and offer no excuses for being so. I have better than average PC knowledge but can get in over my head. So I am asking for help.
I am running Windows XP home SP3, problem, after bootup and desktop appears in a short bit of time the computer hangs up with no response, no mouse etc.. I can bootup in safe mode and the same problem, unit hangs up in a short time.
Suggestions are welcomed.

Hello and welcome.

Could you post your computer hardware specifications please as this may help us determin the problems you are having.

Download and run this then post only your hardware and what operating system you are running.

Also possibly power off the computer and remove from power outlet open her up,touch power supply for a few seconds then give the internals a good clean.

Download and run Speedfan and post a screenshot of the tempratures.

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Is this an older computer and possibly the hard drive is a little to full?

Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit

Look forward to your reply.

JB.
