I'm having difficulty connecting to the internet. A network diagnostics window pops up and says "windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine." My computer worked just fine yesterday. I have a 1394 net adapter and am using windows xp. Please help.

Right click on My Computer and choose Properties then click the Hardware tab then Device Manager and tell us if you see any yellow exclamation or question marks.

There are no yellow exclamation or question marks. It seems the network adapter is properly working, but I still can't connect to the internet.

Have you looked round the back to make sure it hasn't been disconnected?

Are you wired to a router or just a modem?
