Question Booting problems

Hello,

Please can someone help me out... while I was at work my 13 year old son was playing "Battle Field" this is what he has told me... he was playing and it frozzed up on his .. he told me that he had waited about 10 mins and it still stayed frozzen so he pushed and held in the power button untill it had powered done then waited about one min. and went to reboot it when he did it went to the safe mode count down and when it had ended it went to start up and ended up going to a blue screen with a stop code. he had left it untill I have gotten home. So I powered it down and went to reboot it in the safe mode but nothing.. tryed the safe mode with command prompt but still nothing ... I have tryed everything even the hard drive dignostic.. but it had found no errors and passes with flying colors. So I got out my OS disk to try to use the windows repair but it will not even run a disk and I do not have a floppy disk drive - which it keeps telling me since this has all happened that the floppy disk drive has failed and since there has even been one I dont exspect it to work nither!

The stop code tells me that if I have not seen this screen before then just reboot the computer and if I have seen it before to take the following steps Disable my drivers, anti-virs and alot more to the list then goes on to say to go into safe mode in command prompt type CKDSK /F then reboot... but the safe mode and safe mode with command prompt does nothing but sends me to the blue sceen with the stop error.

I have also opened it up and made sure everything is pluged in and nothing seemed wrong to me.. it will only get to the Windows XP start up screen the little light goes half way across then returns to the blue screen.

I am running a Dell Optiplex 745 with XP home

What your probably seeing here is the message; "Floppy Drive Seek Failure" and seeing as you don't have a floppy drive logic dictates that it won't find one, hence message.

To stop seeing that you need to go into the bios and disable the floppy drive.

Have you tried pressing say F11, or whatever key it is on Dell to take you into System Recovery, this is presuming you do have a recovery partition?

Bear in mind that if you can run System Recovery this will take the pc back to factory condition, ie all your stuff will be gone.

If you don't then you may need to run a repair.

Have a read of this carefully and get back to us if you have questions.

Ok what browser are you using, example Internet Explorer, Firefox etc?

Also what security measure do you have in place such as Anti Virus, Firewall and malware applications?
