Any ideas on how to switch my Task bar back to blue?

Hello and welcome to PCHF,

Could you please right click on your desktop, click on your properties, from themes choose Windows XP and from appearance, under windows and buttons buttons, choose Windows XP style and click ok.

Hopefully that should fix your problem

Hi Sam, Unfortunately under Themes I do not have 'Windows XP' but 'Windows XP (Modified)' and under Appearance/Windows and Buttons I only have 'Windows Classic Style' as an option. My Task Bar was blue but it suddenly altered. Any other ideas?

Is there somewhere from which I can download the default 'Windows XP' theme? I have tried the Microsoft site where surely it must be but I cannot locate it.

Computers seldom have things "suddenly" occur unless malware or viruses are involved.

2 thoughts -

You might try a System Restore to a date PRIOR to the Task Bar change.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore -> Restore to an earlier date -> etc....

OR

Might I suggest that you step through PreWork (found in my signature line) for a quick review by the PCHF Security staff to ensure that your PC is clean & functioning without bugs.....

Just so we're clear, in Display Properties under the Themes tab I have four options:

My Current Theme
Windows Classic
More Themes Online... (which takes me to a redundant Microsoft page)
Browse...

What I would like to have is Windows XP Theme. If I knew where to find it I may be able to copy it over from my desktop, or perhaps it can be downloaded from online? I have no idea whether or not the Windows XP Theme used to be on this laptop.

I've got the Windows XP theme for you. Save the attachment to

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper

That's where Themes are stored on your local PC
