very slow pc

my pc has bit by bit been slowing down over the past few weeks. today was the worst. programs take long to open, and when they eventually do they often freeze. the 2 worst are i tunes and msn messenger. i've noticed that when i attempt to log into messenger it would take like 2 minutes to "sign in" and it would appear connected on the little icon in the task bar but i wouldnt be able to open it. it would then dissconnect and reconnect on its own.

Hey there samc!
Have you made any hardware or software changes recently?

Let's rule out the possibility of a bug running around in there slowing things down on you.

Please click on the Prework link in my signature and follow those instructions.

Post the resulting logs back in here and we'll get our Security Staff to take a look and see if there is something there causing this problem.

Hi it sounds like you might have a virus. Open Task Manager and look up any suspicious processes. You can check which one is which on Windows processes - File Inspect Library

Running the programs from the Prework link in my signature will take care of that which you mentioned. A bug of some sort is pretty much a given here.

No need to bother with looking up the Windows Processes, altho I must say that is an informative link

Once the logs are posted, our Security Staff will take fully over and will get things fixed up.

i downloading the speed up my pc program from this site and i must say my pc speed is better. still a bit slow, but then again my pc isnt exactly new. only changes i've made recently though were when i was having a prob with my home page being changed and i ran some of the applications suggested on this site. that prob was fixed though and hasnt returned since
