Exclamation 0xc0150004 Error

Hey guys just registered to this forum so im kinda knew to this. dunno if this is the right section to post this in but im sure ill get help here anyway.

about a week ago ive been getting this " Application failed to initialize properly (0xc015004)" error code everytime my windows live messenger, quicktime and itunes start (or try to start). not sure if any of my other programs have the same error but apart from those programs, everything else valuable seems normal.

ive deleted all recently installed programs from about a month ago to now thinking maybe it was somehting i recently installed that might be doing this, but the issue is still here. ive ran numerous virus scans, ran CCcleaner to dlete my cache and etc, and deleted a bunch of unused content stored in my pc. nothing seems to fix this error. i also chucked in my XP boot disk and ran CHKDSK. according to it everything is fine.

ive googled the error code and can see that alot of people have the same issue, especcialy in a nuumber of threads on this forum. though none really give me a definate answer on how to fix this.

so i thought id try my luck and give my details on whats going on in hope that someone here can help me fix this issue.

sorry for the long post guys

looking forward to chatting to someone soon on this dilema.

cheers, Ric

Since you've used CCleaner with no luck ( I take it you did the regestry option?).
can you try a system restore to before you got these problems?

i have not yet tried system restore, dont really know what that is lol ill search for it and let u know if anything comes up. in the mean time can u please post where i can find it and what i need to do with it please?

cheers mate

UPDATE:
i found system restore, but the furtherest date i can restore my system to is only a few days ago when i still had the problem.

Hello
and jay2, sorry for jumping in-

When I was still using Windows XP, I had similar issues -with messenger and some other applications.

If I remember correctly-it's 2 years now, and I'm not getting any younger..-I solved the issue with 2 different ways (I restored my system with ghost 12.0 -I think- and tried again):

  • I removed the offending applications from the startup (RUN>msconfig>startup)
  • I used staggered startup, there was a program-forget how it was called-that allowed changing the startup order of applications.

jay2 agrees: No problem, and call me Jay. had to add the 2 due to another user having it.

hey georgeks.

ive removed all the non essential startup programs in the msconfig options. also tried using different startup options like basic startup, boot startup etc.. still nothing

i googled Ghost 12.0 and can see that its a norton program and i have to buy it. at the moment im trying to fix this without buying any prrograms.

to be honest i really dont wanna reformat my computer or buy any programs that i will only use once for this matter. i have way too many valuable stuff on my pc. who knew 1 little error message could be such a pain

any other ideas?

I've found something
Check this out, it's freeware:

Download Delayed Startup & Program Manager 2 - Delayed Startup & Program Manager is a useful program that allows you to delay, or stop programs from running at login - Softpedia

hey georgeks

i installed startup manager 2. when i open it, the only thing i can see is that theres 2 things in the current user>registry run section and 3 things in the all users> registry run section.

the 2 things in the current user registry section are "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" and C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe

i think these 2 are wats causing this problem? i dunno what to do with these. ive stopped them then ran them, delayed them then ran them, nothing works.

maybe u know wat to do. please keep me up to date mate and thanks alot to eaveryone helping out.

cheers
