I refuse to reload SP3. When it was loaded, had all kinds of problems from lost keyboard to blank screen. After formatting more than once, i stopped loading SP3. Havent had a problem since. Might be just me, but no more SP3.

Hello and welcome

The issue(s) that you appear to have may, or may not be SP3 related, however, to assist you more, please post your system's maker and model.

Hi
As your system is from an OEM, it is not likely that has any issues by SP3, or you would have seen it on ACER's site (you searched there, didn't you?...)

Now, looking around, I didn't see any references to Optical Drives for SP3, but I saw a lot about incompatible drivers.

Here's what you can try

Uninstall SP3
Search and install all the latest drivers for your system.
Check if there are compatibility issues with any software requiring access to the Optical Drive.
Check the status of the Partition that gave you the Error:Right Click on it>Properties>Tools>Check drives for errors.

Do a Disk Cleanup, reboot and try again.

I take it that the Operating System is not Tweaked/slipstreamed in any way, is legitimate, you have not performed any "Deep" registry scans/repairs, you had no RC Service Packs installed, and no Antivirus/Antispyware was running during the installation....

Hi georgeks,

Thanks for the helpful tips. My DVD-Rom is fixed after having noticed that my drive came off slightly from my laptop and hence the connection was cut...

I am still having the "Variables Errors" from one of the partitions though. I tried to use chkdisk utility on it but it can't run because the utility can't detect the partition...

Hello again

Give Acronis Disk Director a try if you can find it.
