Over a year ago, (February 2008) I asked for assistance to dump Vista from my Toshiba Laptop L45-7423 to replace it with XP Pro. The responce was great. Problem is, I have tried over and over again and got no where. The instructions seemed explicate, but i cant get to first base. I keep getting a message "Cant find txtsetup" so I am still sufferin. My toshiba has a GM965 chipset. They talk about slipstream. Hey fellows and gals, I am 68 and not a rocket scientist. I just cant get it to accept my XP. If you can advise, i would be greatful. TY

It was suggested, but I do not know how to make a "slipstream" anything. Yes i have an XP CD.
One of the problems is, my instructions say to go to an intel site and download the necessary drivers so xp can recognize the HDD. I can do that, but there are seven drivers on the page. I have tried I believe all of them and still no luck. I am willing to pay, just to get rid of Vista. Toshiba will never sell me anything again. They won't help me. |

Hi Austin F,
If you have a look at the instructions in the thread below it shows how to make a slipstreamed install disc with the drivers you need installed. http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-x...s-problem.html You will need to download the following driver file however not the one in the link. Accept the agreement and it will take you to the download page. Software License Agreement Make sure you save it directly to your c:\ drive or otherwise move it there later before you type the following in place of the other instructions: c:\iata88enu.exe -a -a -p c:\driver When you follow the nlite instructions select all the fiiles in the download folder as I'm not sure exactly which ones you will need. It won't hurt to add them all to the slipstreamed disc. If you need any help with this or have any problems please post back. |
