hi need some urgent help my desktop wont load up all of a sudden my electric cut out not long ago went to start pc up and all i get is windows did not start successfully on a black screen with white writing ive tried pressing enter to start normally several times but wont work same thing happens also tried last known cofiguration and trying safe mode but dont no wot im doing help plz ????/

Assuming Windows XP and that you have your Windows OS disk handy....

I recommend that you give the Windows Repair a shot. Microsoft provides instruction here

thanks for quick answer dci admin sorry to be a bit slow but wot is link for and the desktop is a windows xp emachines 5260 i dont have a disk with it brought last year second hand ?

The 1st link is a PCHF instruction on how to place your system specs in your User CP.

The 2nd link is Microsoft's instruction on running the Windows Repair option.

Do you have any Windows OS CD that matches the OS installed on the eMachine? As long as the eMachine has its own license, you can use the OS CD from another system. Provided of course that the installed OS and the CD OS are the same.....

dci admin i just looked at first link but i cant even get on desktop to give all info ? sorry to be a bit slow on this and i have no xp dics wot so ever i do have another desktop but no disc it was brought new few years ago from pc world but xp was already loaded on it ? they didnt give me any discs

Keep that 1st link in mind as you will want it at a later date when we *do* get things back to normal for you.

Might you be able to borrow an OS CD of the same version as installed from a friend, family member, or coworker?

no dci no one has one tried that been looking on net is a system restore an option ?
