ha ha teach you to ask,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I was about to do a re-format and I have the XP home disk, but when I put it in the computer I got the following message on a "BLUE" screen
A problem has been detected and Window's has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this STOP ERROR screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controller. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restrat your computer.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7A22524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000
Thats the end of the message I did not want to manually shut down the computer until I could have someone see this message. Since the only way I can re-start the computer is to manually shut it down and then turn it back on. Should I leave the Win XP home disk in the drive in case it should boot up or what??
Thank you,, Rich

Leave it in, cross your fingers, stand on your LEFT foot, and circle a piece of yellow string over head - Power Down & Back Up ;-)
You should be asked to Press Any Key if You want to Boot from the CD. Please press away....

Are you able to get into Windows normally? If so, then sure! You will be asked to format while you are stepping through the screens.
I'll mail yellow string out next....

BOX CAME UP AND IS TITLED "gET uPDATED fILES" THEN BELOW it has a remark: "to make sure you have updated files, Setup can use your Internet connection to check the MS Web site.
This requires the temporary collection of some information about your computer hardware. No personal information will be collected. then have to tick one of these; o Yes, download the updated files (Recommened) o No, skip this step and continue installing windows Should I just click on "NO" since I will have to update everything when all is said and done? Well while waiting I went ahead and clicked on "NO",, it went through several things going past where it did before BUT then when I thought all was going good that darned message came up again. Think I will go back and try clicking on "YES" and see what happens,,,,,,,,,, Last edited by homeinspec; 04-29-2009 at 06:28 PM. |
