Hello and thanks in advance to anyone that may have a solution to my problem!
Ok, here it is:
I downloaded a complete collection of custom fonts from dafont.com, pretty simple in theory. I have worked with adding custom fonts to the font directory in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts many times before, and I figured just getting the whole lot of them in one-fell-swoop would be easier then constantly sorting through the cumbersome menu at the dafont website all the time. Anyways, I unzipped the font collection pack into the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder like always, and none of the new editions showed up in the folder under any view. Knowing I did in fact put them there, and they didn't just disappear, I had a hunch that they might show up if I ran a search for them looking specifically for .ttf files in that folder. Go figure, after about 3 hours of my comp searching that directory it found the fonts I could see, plus about 11500 of the ones that I had unzipped into there which managed to magically disappear.
Here is the problem, they show up each one as being individually zipped still (why, I don't know???), which could explain why they are invisible in the normal directory view and unreadable to any font utilizing program I have. I can't unzip them as a group and I also can't realistically go through and unzip all 11500 of them one at a time either (I am assuming at this point getting them to work is a lost cause). However, they are sitting in that directory doing nothing but taking up a fairly large chunk of memory. I did try to delete them, but the whole search slows my computer down to a near stall and I can't delete them as a group, but again I can't realistically go through all 11500 of them one by one either.
Is there any suggestion for a solution to this mess? It's not urgent but more annoying then anything. I would appreciate anything you guys might offer.
Thanks again,
-Calen
