Hi

I have windows XP Pro. I did a change on the registry and the when I started my computer I got a STOP 0x00000051 error (REGISTRY_ERROR). I tried doing a repair install with the XP installation CD and it didn't help. Now I get a new STOP error (CONFIG_LIST_FAILED STOP 0x00000073). The weird thing is that I only get the error when I try to login to my regular user name. When I log in as administrator, the startup is fine.
Other than reinstalling windows and lose all my files, any suggestions?

Are you getting BSODs with the error codes?

You may of corrupted your registry beyond repair?

Did you create a restore point to go back to incase it all went wrong?

A system restore may help.

You can backup your data to an external hard drive,CD/DVD,USB pen drives or even fit the hard drive as a slave to remove the needed data before you do a reinstall.
