Default Laptop restarts during xp installation

Hi. I recently had to formate my entire laptop.

Duel booted vista and xp so am trying to do it again

I have done this a number times before in exactly the same way on the same machine and with the same cds with no problems

but now its not working

I have vista installed fine. i have 107gb unallocated space. i run xp (burned copy which has worked perfectly before) it goes to the bluescreen for formatting options ect. i do a full ntfs format on the unpartitioned space

restart to get to the installation of xp. (the screen with the new features and things)

then it restarts

no warning, no error message just a restart

and does this every time and roughly the same time.

Any suggestions?

Its worked before

Hello. I have had a very similar problem with XP installations. I've experienced XP rebooting during the installation of drivers. I've discovered it was because of my video card. It was apparently incompatible with XP installations and the drivers wouldn't load correctly. So I had to take it out during the installation and it worked fine after that. After the installation finished, I put the card back in, updated the drivers, and I was good to go. In my opinion, the problem could lie within your laptop's graphics board or another piece of hardware that XP can't load the drivers for correctly. Because of this, XP doesn't display anything, it just silently reboots.

Since you said your installing it with a burned CD, we are unable to help.
Please come back when you have a genuine XP CD.
