Default Java.exe

Hello all,

I have a customer with the following error;

java.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x500bf974" referenced memory at "0x00000e7f". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

This error will occur as soon as ANY user on the machine logs in for the first time ONLY from a fresh reboot/boot up (sometimes the error with even appear before logging in i.e. still at the Welcome to Windows logon scrren). I have tried re-installing Java, unchecking any java related services/programs from startup in msconfig and checked the following registry keys;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServices

There are no programs in the Startup menu that I can see that could potentially need Java.

Here is a list additional programs (other than a standard machine) the machine has installed;
- Pharos
- Oracle
- Office 2007
- SAP
- Adobe Photoshop

This is really bugging me and would love to get it sorted - any ideas / advice would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Bernie

Unfortunately this has not helped :-( thanks for your response though!

The machine is a HP amchine running Windows XP SP3. I have now also tried a disk defragment and reseated the memory in the actual machine, but still no luck.

Anyone else have anything they can advise at all?

Regards and thanks in advance,
Bernie

Hey guys,

I found and solved the problem by doing a windows search for java.exe and finding where the .exe file was.

There was a few in various different program files folders. One of the was an apache folder within Oracle. I looked at the Oracle services and disabled them and the error has now gone. This did cause me a "limited or no connectivity" issue so I set the services to Manual and this seem to do the trick.

Thanks for your help anyways.

Regards,
Bernie
