Default crappy performance

Hello, My computer ran fine at first, i have System Suite 9 on it all updated. then it started getting slower... and slower. Its not too bad of a computer, P4 1.60 GHz CPU it has crappy onboard video though, never has been able to get good video playback S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR oh and it has an AGP slot and i tried to put my 6800 Nvidia GT AGP 8x in there and it wouldn't work. I had looked it up before i tried it cause my motherboard has a 4x AGP slot and i read a couple forums about the AGP 8x fitting in a 4x and it didn't really work out for me. Anyhow that some of the major problems i have been having with my computer, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Whilst you're doing the computer specs also do some serious housekeeping as in download:

CCleaner from CCleaner - Download
Then install.
I suggest when asked untick all the options apart from the top one

CCleaner:

Under the Cleaner section: select “Run Cleaner”

Under the Registry section: select “Scan for Issues”

(when asked about registry “Backup” save & then accept where it saves it to.)
then “Fix Selected Issues”

Do the Registry option again..(and again until no issues found)

then assuming XP go:

Start - Run - (type) chkdsk /r (with the space)(and say Yes when it asks you to run it on reboot) - Reboot

Do the CCleaner again.

Hello again, here are a few other things about my PC. P4 1.60 GHz, 480 MB PC133 133MHz SDRam, 37GB HDD, 40x12x40 CD-RW, I don't really know what kind of motherboard i have but i know it is a socket 478, it has onboard video, and 2 PCI slots and one AGP 4x slot. Thanks for your help and i greatly appreciate it.

Hey!
Yeah i had downloaded CCleaner and ran it as you had suggested. My PC had around 100MB of clutter in it and countless registry errors(All got fixed though) downloading this program was an exellent suggestion and i really appreciate it. Although this did not fix my video programs, i still cannot run a simple game like "Diablo 2" or "Warcraft 3". I did add another stick of 256 SDRam after my first annitial post so that helped in making it run a little better. The video on anything is just choppy and is really annoying, could my onboard video be bad? And i had a question about my GEForce 8600 GT AGP 8x fitting in my AGP 4x Slot, is there any chance in this happening? Thanks alot for your suggestions and any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

No you need a x4 card to be fitted into a x4 slot.

A x8 catd will NOT run in a x4 slot.

Maybe time to upgrade your mainboard and CPU.
