XP Home Sp3.
Could anyone give me an idea why my PC has suddenly stopped getting updates from Windows and Avast (ver 4.8) I've tried turning off the firewall and installing AVG and Avira which will both load but not update. I got rid of them and re-installed Avast. I can go on-line and evverytjing else works. I repaired everything from network connections. The newest version of Firefox doesnt help, because it's always crashing.

Hello Roger, welcome to PCHF.

What firewall are you running?

What messages do you get (if any) when you attempt to update?
