Howdy Gunthecross and welcome to PHCF
A couple details first.
What operating system are you using? Xp Vista etc.

What are your computer specs.
Cpu ram amount etc..

Also download speedfan in my signature below and let us know what your temps are..

Also lets do some cleanup..

Download Ccleaner and run it..
Also Download Diskeeper lite and run it twice.. Reboot and let us know if it is any faster!

If temps are fine we will go to the next step and make sure you are not infected with anything

Hi Merlin,

I have XP, Intel pentium 4, 2.4 GHZ and 248 MB of RAM.
The temps are 32C, 40C & 65C.
The methods you told me to employ showed little difference when I started back up.

I do appreciate the time you are devoting to my problem.

What should I do now?

Hello there.

Firstly give your internals a good clean as that 65 c I asume is your processor temp and that is just to hot.

I would also upgrade your RAM to 1 gig as your computer is slow due to lack of memory.

Jelly Bean,

I have upgraded my RAM and cleaned out the innards. My computer has sped up, but my processor is still at 60-65c. Is there anything you can recommend?

Regards,

Gunthercross

Possibly a better cooler/fan for the processor and a reapplication of thermal paste.

Excellent she is faster now.
