I was searching for a part for my 2003 toyota tacoma, when I came across this site... it immediately showed up in the bottom right corner next to my clock saying I needed to scan for viruses or something like that.... I'm not sure exactly... so i clicked on it and it opened internet explorer.. I immediately knew it was a virus because no REAL anti virus opens up an internet explorer window like that... I ran Ad Aware and it detected a few things, I deleted them or quaranteened them or whatever ad aware does... then rebooted... When I rebooted, the only thing that came up was my Desktop Wallpaper... NO ICONS... No Nothing! I tried rebooting again, this time pressing F8 and clicking on Safe Mode... This time it gave me the option of clicking on my individual account or administrator. I tried clicking on both, but it says "loading".... and then it IMMEDIATELY says "logging Off"... Then there was another option after rebooting and pressing F8, that says "restore to last know operating status" or something like that.... Nothing seems to work. It just started doing this tonite, April 1st, 2009.
I'm not a moron when it comes to computers, but I can usually fix my own... Any help is Much appreciated!
I'm currently on my MAC which I love and have never had any problems with! but I need my PC for work...
Thank you.
Jon

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.
I recommend you have a system health check. Please click this:Prework Follow the instructions then copy and paste the results of Hijackthis and Malwarebytes back here on your thread. I will then move your thread to the NEW Hijackthis Section in readyness for our excellent Security Team to help you further and give you any fixes that are required. If you have trouble connecting to the internet or downloading the software then you can use another computer. Download and save the software files to the computer, then copy the software to a CD/DVD,floppy disk,USB pen drive or even an external hard drive. You can then transfer the software to the problem computer. You can also run in safe mode with networking if needs be.Restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and choose safe mode with networking. If you need further help please feel free to ask. Jelly Bean.

Hi Jelly Bean,
I have already tried to reboot and load my computer in Safe Mode. It brings me to a "Welcome" screen to choose either "Administrator" or My individual settings account, but when I click on either one of them, it says "Loading your personal settings...", then immediately says "Logging off"... Then in the bottom Left corner, it says shut down computer... I cannot get past this screen in safe mode... any suggestions??? I have no idea what site I went to, but whatever it is, it's not allowing me to access my computer at all... I think one of the options when I clicked on F8 were command prompt, but I'm not sure how to use that... I haven't tried that avenue yet.... Thanks for your help. Jon |

Are you able to use the install disk and boot the computer with it and run a repair install?

Hi, I do not have an install disc.... I can't even get to my desktop... It only takes me to my welcome screen... Please help... What do I need to download on my mac and burn to a disc to fix the virus on my dell??? Also, I am unaware of how to "boot from disc" at start up, so those instructions would be very helpful as well.
Thanks for your help! Jon |

What operating system are you running?
If XP can you borrow an install disk from a family member or a friend?

No, their settings will be different... everyone nowadays has Vista.... and most of my neighbors have macs!
I'd like to save whatever is on my computer and not lose anything if at all possible.... It has been down now for a few days and I will need to use it soon, so anything you can do to help is very much appreciated!!! I will give you all the Jelly Beans you want, but I have no money to pay... LOL Again, thank you for your continued support!!! I will try to be on here as much as possible to respond to your posts. |
