Default Norton Problem and really slow response times

A friends PC runs extremely slowly and get a number of errors at any one time.

Norton constantly shows as a cross to say it isn't working and when you click fix it can't fully fix itself - it gives and error message.

Also an update program for the printer sporadically opens itself and tries to update itself but then doesn't fully update and gives an error message.

Please can you help?

Thanks.

Dan.

Hiyaz Dashy!

I would suggest that you completely take Norton out of there! It's a heavy program to run anyway and could be causing some issues with that printer too.

Norton Removal Tool is a necessary part of fixing up this system. Please download and run it from that link. If you need to, you can put it on a USB drive to get it to that system.

Once that is all done, please run CCleaner from the link in my signature. It will certainly get more things out of there!

After that, we need to figure out what that printer is up to, but lets get this first part done, Ok?

Looking forward to your reply

Hi my name is Peter and I´m working for the Symantec supporting team. Your problem should be solved by acting that way:

First of all upgrade up Norton product. The version 2009 of your Norton product should be able to fix this issue, and it is a free operation. To upgrade, you need to have a 2006, 07 or 08 version, a valid subscription and Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista.
To process, go to Symantec.com-> Norton ->Downloads->Features update for Norton customers
Your actual version will be removed and replaced by the 2009 during the installation. The subscription will be automatically detected and added in the upgraded version.
After the installation, run a full system scan to make sure you don't have any infection.
If you have Norton 360, the process is the same and the new version, version 3, is lighter than the previous ones.
