Hey everyone, im new to this forum although not new to the pc game. Im fairly experienced when it comes to computer software issues, but my current problem is something i cannot fix.
Im running windows xp service pack 3 on my eepc 1000h.
i started having problems with malware, my computer would randomly reboot, also when i went online to search through google i would be redirected to third party search engines. I tried to kill the malware by downloading an autoruns program to stop the malware from starting up when i would reboot my system. and after i checked everything off, i rebooted my system and magically a password screen came up (i never password lock my computer) i pressed enter and it logged into my desktop homepage, but then it immediately logged me off back to the log in screen.
i cant get past this screen......
so my question is this...... how do i fix this without completely reinstalling windows? i have another laptop i can use to download programs that could assist in fixing this problem, i just dont really know where to begin..
also, if i cant fix this problem, how do i boot from cd rom when my laptop doesnt have an internal drive, i have an lg external drive... when i run my bios it wont let me select the external drive to boot first so i can reinstall windows..
i need this fixed as soon as possible, i dont really want to bring my computer to a repair shop if i can fix it myself..
can someone figure this out??
thanks alot in advance... if you need any other info email me

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.
Are you able to restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and choose safe mode? If you can could you then click the "Prework" link below on my signiture and follow the instructions. Then copy and paste the results back here on your thread. You can download the software on another computer and transfer using a CD/DVD or USB pen drive etc. JB.

In safe mode a password screen comes up try the password left blank or type in administrator then enter.

i tried that countless times. it just logs me in, and then immediately logs me out. the cycle goes over and over again.
so ive tried to boot in every mode that it shows, and nothing works. everytime it shows the windows screen loading, says to type in my password (there is no password) i hit enter, it starts to show my desktop and then it makes the windows log out sound and goes back to the password screen. |

The password is administrator.
Insafe mode choose the administarator account and type in administrator as the password.

i just got home from work and unfortunately your solution does not seem to be working on my machine./
there is no option for administrator, it just has my name.. also when i manually type in administrator and then the password, it says its an incorrect username and domain. this was tried in safe mode as well as normally booting windows.. still have the same problem. at this point i think i just want to reinstall windows, if that is an option? help!!!!! |
