Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1800 MHz 512 cache
Asus A8N-E motherboard
1024 mb kingston ddr2
EVGA e-geforce 8800 GT 512 cache
120 gig seagate hdd
Windows XP Home Edition
The problem started a week ago when my computer crashed, and upon trying to start back up, windows would not load passed the logo splash screen. I tried to repair by reinstalling windows, but it froze at the 'setup is starting windows' screen.
From here I ran a memtest, and hdd test from ultimateboot, both came up fine. I wiped both my hdd clean using boot&nuke. Problem persisted. Tried disabling the ACPI setting in bios, didn't help. Tried resetting the bios, didn't help. Using another computer, i burned a Ubuntu disc to see if it would install on my pc, and it did. Ran completely fine and bug free. To test the windows disc, I removed my hdd and placed it into another rig, and was able to install windows fine using the same disc, no problems. I wiped the hdd clean after that and tried on my pc again, same problem prevailed.
Just recently I removed all excess compenents (2nd hdd, network card, etc.) and I'm left with what I posted as the specs above. Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
has the PC go 2 different ram chips try running just one because it passed in memtest don't mean it ok it just didn't fail when it was tested. Has the PC got onboard graphics if so remove your card if not have you another graphics card to try

I'm only running one ram chip at the moment, I removed the others to eliminate possibilities. Unfortunately my motherboard does not have onboard video, although I think I could find a different video card to put in instead of my evga, do you think I should give that a try?
