Answered: hidden files and folders ................

under tools....folder options.....................when i select ---do not show hidden files and folders ..and clicked apply...

it automatically changes to ---------show hidden files and folders.

how it changes like that ?

I selected a folder as hidden...now i cant able to see it and the files inside it again.........
i searched the file name and that folder name seperately...but it is not showing.............

this is the first time....it is hapenning like that...............

When i right click in a folder..it shows totally how many files are there.......that hidden folder is inside this folder.......

But that file is there hidden...........

how can i bring it back ?

Hello davesam.

Changing the file option from 'do not' automatically gives you the option to go the other way. (to 'show hidden files')

It is nothing more than a simple option, and yes, it hasn't done it before, because you hadn't.

How to change it back? You know where you were when you changed to 'Hide files'?

If your are Admin, simply change it back to 'Show hidden files'.

Was there a reason, other than curiosity, that you needed to change the Hidden files option?

Well everyone knows that By default,it will be in ---do not show hidden files and folders ...

Alright,but i think 1 day i set that to show hidden files and folders to see some hidden files ..may be that time i would have hideen something...

and after that..i never changed back to do not show hidden files and folders ...i think.......

Eventhough if i didnt change it back..that is not the problem..right...

day before yesterday i selected a folder to be hidden.........Now this time in folder options it is already........show hidden files and folders selected..

So now how can i choose show hidden files and folders while it is already in that option only...but that file disappered after i select hidden.........So just i choosed ---do not show hidden files and folders in that and i thought once again i can change it back to show hidden files and folders...

but it is not changing..........no matter how many times..i do that.....it is in that option( show hidden files and folders)only.....

when i search that hidden file name,still nothing is coming and that is very different that iam seeing for the first time.

Is any kind of a virus doing that ?

Antivirus....antispyware...everything is there...............

Then once again i hide a empty folder...just i did.......that if i can see that again....but i cant..totally 4 files are hidden.......

It says --- this folder contains 4 hidden files
if u want to select these files as well,enable viewing of hidden files in the folder options control panel

But i cant do that...........coz u already know that....no matter how many times..i do that.....it is in that option( show hidden files and folders)only already...............

So,is there anyway to get those hidden files back ?

Do a system restore to the time before you changed the settings.

It's as easy as that...
