Default XP Pro extremley slow shutting down

Hi there to all.

I have accquired a HP Compaq nx 7010 laptop running XP Pro and in the main everything seems to be working ok. However it does have a couple of problems that I hope other members can help me with. these are as follows:

1) When I click to turn off the computer, the page that offers the 3 options for standby, turn off computer and restart takes a long time to appear, 5 to 15 minutes each time and whichever option I choose also takes an age before performing the action.

2) In Device Manager, I have an unknown device on Intel 8280ID BM LPC Interface Controller and in the System Information popup Components,Problem Devices, I have this entry, Device= Not Available, PNP Device ID= ACPI\WEC0518\4&61F3B4B&0 and the error code tells me that the drivers for this device are not installed.

I do not know if these two problems are related at all and I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on solving them.

Many thanks in advance.

From your description you need to re-install your audio drivers which I think are here:

HP Compaq nx7010 Notebook PC- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center
