Default Adding ram blackscreen

Hi there, Today I ran the cruciat thing scan and found out my ddr number thing

took it to the pc shop and asked for a 512 slot of ram so that I could 1 gb, He said there was none in stock and 512 are rarely sold from shops now, fair enough so I decided to buy the only one they had compatible which was a 2gb stick, so I get home fit it in and boot pc up it was on normal screen of load up just displaying "Packard Bell" as usual then it went wierd coloured like a snowstorm untill then just a black screen

I no the motherboard can handle it as i ran the scanner and i can have upto 4gb

I have to slots for available ram

please help :|

Thanks

Have tried all that, still get the black screen

my ram says 447 when i just have the original module inside, but just now i had the 2gb ram in there aswell and pc powerd on and showed 527 ram, very wierd, then after restart was black screen again

either blackscreen or the whole screen becomes distorted and strange colours all over

Hi is the ram compatible for your PC? What mainboard do you have in the PC I will check also maybe worth trying the latest bios update.
