I just installed a new windows xp, i have a foxxconn motherboard i tried to install the chipset through my motherboard cd but it just freezes and doesn't let me, so anyway i downloaded my chipset driver myself from the net (Intel chipset driver 8.1.1.10) although my cd wont let me install the chipset driver it's getting so far with the realtek and saying i need to install the SMBUS Controller driver (Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBUS Controller-27DA) which according to my computer is already installed, I've tried looking for the driver for my SMBUS online but no luck, to be honest i don't really know what im doing, just throwing myself at it anyhow , getting frustrated

Hello Sarah and welcome to PCHelpForum.
The driver is contained in the chipset I belive. Download and save the chipset. Then use device manager to locate and install the SMB manualy. I have marked your thread as "Open" to receive further help from the guys and girls. JB.

Open your Device Manager
Click on View ... Show hidden devices Make a snapshot of the Device Manager and post it in your reply. Please do not modify the appearance of the Device Manager. Here is how to make a snapshot. Use the <Alt><Prnt Scrn> option. http://www.pchelpforum.com/new-membe...reenshots.html
