Default Black screen after I power on

Guys I have a Toshiba Satellite A75-S125 Laptop, running Windows XP. After I power on the windows XP screen comes up and begins to load and then the screen goes black. I have tried booting into safe mode, and it freezes when loading. I tried booting to last known good configuration, and it just goes black again. I can hear the fans running, but its just like it hangs up whille trying to load. After a few minutes of it just being black screen it will sometimes just power off. Any ideas as to whats going on or how to recover?

Thanks in advance.

Chad

Hello champdog21,

Have you tried a boot disk? Sounds like a possible hard drive problem. Maybe a missing master boot record or some other corrupt file. Without further info, that would be my first guess..

I'm a little slow on this stuff, but explain and I will try anything. I have a lot on this computer that I need.

We need a boot disk, (A disk, floppy or CD, that launches a low level operating system) to see if you have a software or hardware problem.

You can go to BootDisk.com to get the image to make a 3.5'' floppy or a boot CD. The instructions for doing this is on the site. While you are attending to that, I'm sure one of the XP Gurues will be by to save the day. They know I barely make Gu around here...

I don't have a floppy drive on this computer and can't find where to make the cd. Can anyone shed some light on this.
