Welcome Celtics345! PCHF is a grand place to stop for computer assistance!

Are you saying that when you insert a CD or DVD, the player isn't autostarting? Will the player read if you double click it or right click and explore via My Computer?

You could also check the AutoPlay feature. That's found by Right Clicking on the drive in My Computer and selecting Properties. The AutoPlay tab has various options for each of the different file options in the drop down.

Microsoft offers the following Knowledgebase article if you AutoPlay feature isn't working.

The AutoRun feature or the AutoPlay feature does not work when you insert a CD-ROM in the CD drive
