Default Automatic Updates Hack??

I have a laptop that I want to use to test some of my websites on. I want to keep IE 6 because most web devs know thats the browser you may have trouble with.

Anyways, I have auto updates turned on and it keeps bugging me about IE 7 which I don't want. I do however want all other updates just not that one. So, the question is: How do I skip the install of something in auto updates??

I believe that IE7 can not be installed without user input as it required me to accept terms and initiate the installation.

Now I have not tried it because I installed IE7 however I believe that if you go in and manually check for updates it will give you a list of what is available for your computer.

You should be able to then click on specific items and if you expand the description there should be a box you can check that says something to the effect of don't show me this update again and it puts it under the hidden category.

I have the windows search and silverlight in there as I didn't care to have them and got tired of having them offered again and again.

If you change your mind about an update you can later unhide it if you wish.

I just can't confirm whether that hide option is provided for all updates so you might want to take a look and see if IE7 has that box available.
