Default Volume Control will not stay in notification area

Please have patience, I have been trying for a very long while to get a solution to this problem and am using every available resource, you may have seen this post in other forums.

Hi Everyone, this is a long and very difficult problem, I have tried everyone's suggestions and still the Volume Icon is never in the NA after a reboot, it always appears after going to control panel, opening Sound and Audio devices and removing the check mark, clicking apply, replacing the check mark and again clicking the apply.

Would a Windows repair or reinstall help? I don't want to loose all my present information, but a reinstall would also give me the opportunity to enable AHCI, which I need so my external SATA backup drive can be recognized without having to turn it on and reboot, which is what I have to do now.

Thanks for any help.

Jim

Hello there.

Have you installed the latest driver?

Open command prompt copy and paste in scf /scannow pop in XP CD and hit enter on your keyboard.

Marked as "Open" ready to receive further help from the Team.

JB.

Go here to Kelly's Corner scroll down in the left hand column to line 320. Then save the Restore Volume/Net Icon to Notification Area.reg file.

When it's downloaded right mouse click and select merge, this should fix the problem...
