Default MSN Issue

Hello this is my first post here, so i'm bound to have got it in the wrong section lol. Sorry if i have...

Here is the problem, my Dad has recently got into the world that is MSN, all has been fine up until yesterday, he went to sign into MSN as normal to speak to his Brother and the the MSN homepage come up saying 'This is a fraudulant website' and redirected him to Windows Messenger instead, however it didn't sign in with his details, it has signed in with my friends details who i purchased the PC off. Windows Live has dissapeared off the PC altogether, it's a mystery to where it has gone, i installed it again for him but it is failing to respond saying there is something missing, Windows Messenger has no gone as well, only way of using Hotmail is through Meebo. He was saying that the usual MSN green icon in the bottom right, turned to black at the time?.

Ihave no idea...

Hello Villa and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Please open control panel/add and remove and see if messenger is listed,if it uninstall it and reinstall.

When logging into MSN messenger there is a drop down box that lists diffrent email and passwords you can use that.

Uncheck all boxes that peratin to his friends MSN messenger such as sign me in automaticaly, remember my passowrd etc.

Or have you tried clicking on the MSN icon and choose sign out then sign in with a diffrent user?

Open IE and click tools internet options.Under security tab check MSN has not been added to the blocked/restricted sites.

JB.

Hi thanks for the reply. It isn't there anywhere, just says Windows Live Home, but when i click it i get an error message saying it can't be opened. The problem before hand i believe was it wouldn't let him sign him altogether saying there was an error, i checked on my system to see if his login worked and all is fine, just seems messed up on his PC...

I think firstly lets get a system health check from our Security Team and see if the computer is clean.

Please click "Prework" link and follow the instructions and copy and paste the results back her on your thread.

Do this on dads computer.

Our Security Team will check the results and see whats going on.

Villa what antivirus program is he using? This maybe blocking the MSN website. Please check its settings.

JB.

I have determined this not to be a malware issue.

Thankyou Chiaz.

Now in internet options Security has dad checked what is set for blocked sites.

Maybe lower his security settings to medium to low.
