Ok guys.
My mom messed up her pc with a HUGE amount of viruses, and it got to the point were i couldn't go into safe mode, so i formatted her HDD and reinstalled Windows XP SP3 and everything seems to work fine, but i cant get a LAN connection up to save my life!!!

The comcast install cd doesnt even detcet the modem and trust me it is hooked up right, im useing the internet 1 room away on my pc just fine. And her connection worked just fine before she downloaded all those viruses :/

Ive tryed almost EVERYTHING in controll panel for networks connections, and internet options blah blah and nothing at all will get this computer to read the cable modem at all.

Its an Ambit model number U10C018 connected CORRECTLY :P and i have no clue what to do! Any Help would be great guys!!!

Do you have any devices showing in Device Manager with the Yellow !?

You say that you are connected to the Internet 1 room away. Could you provide more information about your home network config? Something like Comcast cable modem -> Router (brand info would help) -> to xxx - Thanks!

Yeah i do have some ?! on device manager but there on stuff from her hard drive and new camera she put in her pc. Think this is a driver issue, because i dont have and local area connection, or wireless connection. Can you point me in the direction were i would download these specific drivers on this pc and take them over to her pc and install them?

Also you said that the only ?! that you have on her computer are on things OTHER than the Network Adapter, correct? Not sure that drivers will be useful if the network adapter isn't showing a ?!.
