Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some help, getting somewhat desperate. My sister tried to install more RAM into my computer recently which has started a domino effect of despair for my beloved desktop computer. First of all, it might be important for you guys to know that its an older computer (desktop) as I mentioned earlier. Something weird happened when the new stuff was installed and the graphics were all messed up on the screen, etc. My sister is much more computer savvy than I am and has successfully done such upgrades on her other computers. Since she was unfamiliar with the weird graphics, etc. she replaced everything back to the way it was which was great except now I'm worse off than I was before with a slow computer.
I was using a wireless keyboard and mouse (logitech if it matters) but since it has been a pain in the past to re-connect, I switched back to the wired mouse and keyboard that I received with my computer many moons ago. The mouse and keyboard work fine until the computer enters the login page for XP, then the mouse works fine but as soon as I touch the keyboard everything freezes up and I can't get anything accomplished.
I tried pressing F8 and selecting Safe Mode, which was successful up to the point where the XP login page comes up again.
I tried doing that a few times except now the mouse won't even work when it gets to the login page in XP.
So I have borrowed my roommate's laptop and here I am, desperate for anyone's suggestions. I can't afford a new computer right now, and would like to do anything I can (trying to keep it away from my sister) to avoid an expensive trip to the computer repair shop.
Thank you for reading this novel!!

From what you are describing, sounds like when you touch the keyboard you're grounding your system.
If your computer is old, it might have dust in the computer. My first suggestion is clean out your computer and keyboard. Your sister should know how to do that. If you do try to do this, unplug the computer from the AC outlet, first.
