Default 'Found New Hardware' Error

I have a HP Compaq nx6325, with XP Pro.

In the last few weeks I have sometimes(about half of the time) been getting an error when I startup. It says, "Found New Hardware", and then "Generic Cardbus Controller", and "USB Storage [can't remember the last word]...", and then "Could not find driver etc....."

I haven't added any hardware recently(apart from 2GB of RAM a few months back), and yet this message keeps coming up when I start Windows. Often, a restart gets rid of the error, and the driver seems to install fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what this might be/how to fix it.

Thanks a lot.

Hi

What does Device Manager say it is? Start > run > type
devmgmt.msc and press enter.

wait till you look get that messege again then use device manager to see what its missing, more than likely there will be a yellow question mark next to the problem, then post back and we should be able to help.

Thanks lads.

Sod's Law being what it is, I've tried restarting a dozen times already, and the error hasn't surfaced, for some unknown reason!

If and when it does, I will post the device(s) with a yellow exclamation beside them.

Thanks again.

So does the device manager show any question marks when there is no error? (like right now) right click my computer then , properties, then on hardware tab click device manager.

No. When(as is the case right now), there are no errors, and it doesn't say "New Hardware Found" upon startup, there are no yellow exclamation marks at all.

When the error does show itself, there are several of them(6 approx).

so your not missing anythang at all , its just not loading all your drivers. Thats different! I'll keep a close eye on this thread to see what the prob is. First lets do a checkdisc click start ,run then type chkdsk and hit enter.when its done reboot and then it wont hurt anythang to do a disc cleanup then a defrag after that .
