Default Windows media player burn/sync issues..

Im having issues trying to burn tracks onto a cd or load onto a mp3 player. I create the playlist then click go.. It goes to the burn list & starts the % stages...but just goes painfully slow! The first track alone can take an hour to do....I just give up coz its not worth it when u have numerous tracks to load. What is causing this slowness? It happens on both burn to cd & sync to mp3. It always went fast before....well about 10-15mins for a full cd.

any help appreciated..

My first thought is that there is something taking processor time and hence slowing down your burn application.

I suggest you follow the link in PreWork below to ensure it's not malware.

In the meantime some housekeeping should prove useful.

Download

CCleaner from CCleaner - Download
Then install.
I suggest when asked untick all the options apart from the top one

CCleaner:

Under the Cleaner section: select “Run Cleaner”

Under the Registry section: select “Scan for Issues”

(when asked about registry “Backup” save & then accept where it saves it to.)
then “Fix Selected Issues”

Do the Registry option again..(and again until no issues found)

after that:
Go:

Start - Run - (type) chkdsk /r (with the space)(Enter)

which will then say it can't perform the action until it reboots, take the Yes option.

This checks your file system structures

Reboot

Ok I havent had chance to reply for few days...

Thanks for the help. I did all it said in previous post. But it doesnt seem to have helped. Im trying to burn a cd now but its still painfully slow. I have a SMARTRAM indicator on my toolbar...it seems to be very low. It keeps changing but it gets as low as 1%. Is this why its going so slow?

Im using a 4-5 year old desktop with 512mb ram. But it all worked fine up to very recently & I never had problems. Incidentally, I dont have problems copying discs on my powerproducer disc copy programme. Its just on windows media player.

Any other suggestions?

I, again, suggest you follow the PreWork link as below to ensure you're not compromised by malware.

Hi. I was doing the prework thing. I already have the Malwarebytes prog - nothing found. But...

Ive since noticed that the problems are with certain tracks. Some tracks copy quickly to mp3 or disc. But others just get stuck on 0% for ages then go painfully slow. What reasons are there for certain tracks taking longer than others? Is it size, location or do some have some kind of protection?
