A while back I made a posts concerning my c would freeze when watching movie sonline (youtube, veoh etc etc), well now it freezes even when watching movies straight off the harddruve (which originally used to work fine), and now it even freezes after being on for a few hours (no movie watching at all), so i restart my pc as usual when it freees and this time it doesnt boot, a screen flashes after start up that says "verifying DMI pool data boot from CD (which i dont have), then it dgoes to the screen asking if i wanna boot from safe mode, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration or start windows normally, so i try safe mode and it just restarts giving the same verifying scdmi pool data screen then back to the how i wanna start up windows screen (or itll just freeze one of the two), so i try last known good configuration (and although it worked ONCE it hasnt worked again since it just restarts and gives the same two screens), so then i try start windows normally, and same thing.
so this time i open the pc up cleaning out any dust inside an di try again... it boots fine, i start watching a movie, it freezes 30 mins later and i restart again only for it to repeat the sane process from earlier this time even with the dust cleaned out it wont boot again. maybe im having an overheating issue? (which im gonan test my leaving the pc off overnight and turning it on then see if it works tomorrow) other than that (and assuming it does boot tomorrow) any steps i should/can take to fix this problem?

This can be caused by a variety of issues.
1.) Corrupt boot files on the computer 2.) Settings for Hard Disk are incorrect 3.) Floppy diskette or CD malfunctioning 4.) Boot devices set incorrectly 5.) BIOS settings incorrect (try setting to DEFAULT) 6.) Connections are loose or disconnected 7.) Bad HD or other hardware To fix this, first boot from a floppy diskette (make sure it's a Windows XP bootable FD). Then at the Command Prompt (I still call it MS-DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System)), type "sys c:" and press ENTER. You should then get the report "File system transferred". then remove and reboot. If it does NOT fix this after attempting this, then try re-creating the Master Boot Record (MBR), but ONLY if you know what you are doing. If not, DO NOT attempt this. To do this, at the A:\> prompt, type "fdisk /mbr" and press ENTER. No message should appear. After, remove diskette and reboot. If it's the HD, your CMOS settings are not correct. Refer to your maual for your motherboard for reference...... |

I'd suggest first check the overheating.
Your PC temperatures can be tested by downloading from here: Download SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer Anything that shows up with a "flame" is a problem

SpeedFan is EXCELLENT for temperature monitoring. I use it and it is GREAT! It's free and is SAFE to use. It could tell you if a component is overheating...

i alredy use speedfan and ive seen a flame or two every now and then.. how would i fix that? (ive tried using the speedfan setting that makes the fans spin faster or w/e but it doesnt seem to spin faster at all) also i think it is an overheating issue as i turned my pc on this morning (while the pc was cold instead of warm like it usually is) and sure enough it boot just fine

Hello
![]() If you can tell us what fan number it is then we can identify whether it's your CPU or other piece of hardware that might be overheating. But if you manage to identify what is overheating then you might be able to change Fan settings in BIOS. Might be under "Intergrates Pheriphals" or Advanced Settings or CPU Settings etc. Hope this helps. |
