My comment about the purchase a Wireless network adapter was only mentioned IF you would want to convert your home PC to Wireless as well. If you don't mind the ethernet cable running from Router to PC, then the Router is the only thing required to purchase.

With a Router, your new home connection will look like this:

Modem -> Router (wireless routers typically have 4 wired ports available as well as the wireless option)
Router -> PC (wired)
Router -> Wii (wireless)

All devices (PCs, Wii's, XBox, etc) would make a connection to the Router. The Router makes the connection for all to the modem.

You will use the current cable going from the Modem to PC as the PC to Router cable. The Router will come with a short ethernet cable to connect Router to the Modem.

so it should look like this....

PC============>Wireless Router

Wireless Router==========>Modem

and my wireless router can stay near the pc as it is connected via short ethernet cable, and it will send out a signal which my wii will receive, allowing me to play online, and i dont need to purchase a wireless adapter?

Correct! One thing to consider though - You might want the router close to the Wii since it is the wireless connection - Internet gaming is very demanding and requires the best signal possible.

Ethernet cables are not specific to function - meaning you could use the one currently connecting the Modem to the PC for Router to PC or Modem to Router. The cable included with the Router will be 3-5 foot, if I remember correctly.

hmm well my wii is directly 1 room above me, the wireless router im buying is netgear wgr614uk 54 mbps - do you think it would lag?

Also i just want to make sure that my modem only needs 1 ethernet port to connect to the router, and router to the pc. Should the router connect to the pc via ethernet?

thanks again for reply

Connection should be good floor to floor although I couldn't say for sure. Wireless connectivity can be impacted by odd things - a lot metal in the area, other communication devices, etc.

Yes - the ethernet port on the modem will connect to a port on the router that is marked for Internet. The router does have wired connections available for the PC - typically 4 wired ports (labeled 1 - 4) available for home systems.
