I fixed my 19" LCD from messing up and overheating by COMPLETELY removing the plastic and tin from it.
The monitor is now completely nude with all the chips exposed.
It no longer shuts off and gets horribly fuzzy. works good as new.
i am trying to install a small quiet fan in the back of it on top of the 4x7 inch chip on the back of it and put the case back on cutting a hole on the back but i figure that the air being sucked in would cause a lot of dust so im just going to leave this baby exposed and hope it lasts 4 more years until i get a new one.

by the way, i learned a lot from this. by taking out my processor it got STUCK to the heatsink like, BAD. so i go a razor and slowly worked at it for 2 minutes. works just fine. first time taking out a processor too, so i was REALLY nervous. they are both intel pent. 4 2.8ghz and 2.4ghz.

by the way that meat that cooked in my computer last week wasnt really cooked that good and now im a little sick.. i heard a long time ago people would put turkeys in the engine of their car and drive back home from a long trip and would have a turky dinner ready. i guess computers dont work that well for cooking.

LOL @ Black.

The operative word when removing heatsinks from CPU's is "twist".

Always twist the heatsink back and forth gently to break the hold the thermal compound has before attempting to pull the unit off.

Pulling a CPU out of its socket attached to the heatsink is very bad and often times terminal.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. If you can, please spend a few bucks and keep a can of compressed air AND a small, kitchen-type fire extinguisher near your computer. You may be able to find both items at a computer store, or any department store (ie Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc.) Use the compressed air as directed on the can to keep the exposed circuit board clean of dust. Read and understand the instructions on the fire extinguisher BEFORE there is an emergency. I really hope you never have to use it, but better safe than sorry. I've never had to use mine, but since the very first time I opened my computer and discovered how hot it gets in there, I always keep one near all my computers.

I know I sound like a mommy; I thought it was all silly myself at first, but after my time in the army and seeing that these crazy things really do happen, I always keep safety in mind.

Good luck keeping your monitor alive!
