I bought mine through ebay as OEM. I was told I have to ph Microsoft to reinstall it. Microsoft asked me for my 6 digit ID pin and I didn't know what it was. I have lost my original disk and instructions but still have backups and I know the product key and took note of a couple of other number/letter sequences that were on the original packet but these weren't six digit numbers.
I took my pc to a shop for them to reinstall windows because I was having problems reinstalling it. My pc kept asking to re-boot. They said I could not prove I had original Windows XP disk without the original disk itself but that they can install it and I can put in the product key later.
Is not having the 6 digit ID pin that big a problem?
Should I buy another Windows XP to get the ID PIN and original disk, and if so, where/how do you find out what the ID PIN is?
