well, i have a problem. the end of the quarter is in a few days and i am having serious computer problems. my computer was infected with a virus this past weekend, and i took it in to a shop where they succesfully erased it and all my files maintained intact. however, i thought it would be smart to password protect my computer (since the virus may have been from a game my brother installed) so i thought i set a password, rebooted to see if i did it right, and right away i get a message saying there is no recognized operating system. whats going on here, and most importantly, are my files still there somewhere??
has this happened to anyone else? thanks for reading, im very concerned because i have three huge final projects started on that computer

I had same problems before few days... You must put in your windows cd/dvd and then when starting the computer press DEL or something to enter system menu before entering windows(probably is problem in windows) and i think there is option to reboot computer...but there should be a option to get files from computer...if not i dont know how...

Any windows install cd will work, so long as its the same version currently installed on your computer

No thats not correct.
You can borrow and OEM disk which was supplied with a new computer as long as it is same operating system as your origonal key. Retail cannot be used as this comes supplied with its own key.
