Hello all. I did a quick search for a suggestion box, but didn't find one, so here's my question: Is it feasible to split Windows 2000 from XP in the operating system forum category? It may ease a little confusion for the tech support staff/moderators as well as readers. I understand *some* information crosses over, but recently I got some very helpful advice; I spent three days of pause/resume style downloading of a nearly 10MB file on a 56k dialup connection, only to find the recommended file requires XP or later in order to run.
I admit, it was definitely my fault for not catching the fine print on the download page, but with a separate heading for Win2k, perhaps there would be less confusion, as I said. For one thing, IE 6 SP2 won't run on Win2k, nor can system restore points be created, backing up the registry is more complicated, as well as many other settings which can be accessed easily through the XP gui, but not so easily in win2k.
Hey, it's just a suggestion and I would certainly understand the work involved in moving existing threads, there's over two hundred *pages* after all. But there again, a leaner category for us win2k users would be nicer than having to wade through all the XP threads for useful info. Maybe even a few less threads would be created if same issues didn't have to be addressed over and over again simply due to the inability to find the info with a search limited to win2k issues.
It's a thought. Thanks for your ever-friendly (and prompt) help!
