How do i restore my computer to its factory settings? I want to rid of all programs i dont need but i am unsure of what i need and dont need.

Welcome to PCHF. Do you have your XP Install Disk that came with your computer?

Ive tried doing system restore but i do not have a good restore point that i know of

Without the XP Install Discs this could be an issue. If you had the ability to do a complete reinstall of the operating system (i.e. no more data, a clean install) I could guide you through it. Let's see if another tech has another idea. I've marked your thread as open in order for it to be up for discussion.

Does this computer have a restore partition "built-in"? If you are not sure, we could try to find out for you if you could provide more information about the mfg and model of the system.
