Default weird xp problem ?

I have a weird xp problem.I recently bought a new HD I formatted and partitioned it then cloned my old drive.all went well in the end and the system has been working fine for a few weeks.I shut the system down today and when I rebooted the xp logo came up and then asked me to sign in.The problem was it said VISTA ULTIMATE ? the system boots and all the short cuts come up but everything is unresponsive. luckily I still have the old drive with everything still on it but I dont want to lose some very important letters on the new drive.Any help would be appreciated.

if you put the original drive back in and connect as Master and then connect the unresponsive drive as Slave you should be able to access your important documents so a back up would be possible.

Sounds like you have run the Vista upgrade tool, probably accidentally by the sounds of it lol. If your really running Vista, and want to go back to XP, you won't be able to downgrade again. You'll need to burn the files you want to keep onto CD, or some other storage device, USB Pen, whatever you have available. You'll still be able to do this from Explorer (right click on Start, go to Explorer). Once you have all the files you need, perform the cloning procedure again.

EDIT: Marked as Answered.
