| Windows XP/2000 - SP3 problems! posted in the Operating Systems forums; Does any one know what i should do? I have installed sp3 and now my system is crazy. Check Disk utility doesn't work and many alerts appear saying that files ... |

Does any one know what i should do? I have installed sp3 and now my system is crazy. Check Disk utility doesn't work and many alerts appear saying that files are corrupt. Also, updates download but they do not install or any downloads from the Microsoft website. I have tried to remove service pack three by using " Add or remove programs" and The $NtServiceUninstall$folder. I have also treid to use the recovery console but it did not work. Any one know what i should do?

Please review the steps at this URL to resolve your Microsoft update download issue. Error: A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded | Technipages Once completed and downloads are successful again, please follow the steps in the PREWORK link in my signature. Your "crazy" system might be caused by something other than MS updates. Best of luck. Please keep us posted.

It worked! Thank you so mush1 Updates download now but i still get the messages saying that there are corrupt files and it says to run chkdsk utility. When I try to run it doesn't work. What could the problem be and should i invest in a registry fixer or cleaner?

That is brilliant the wise.
Open command prompt and type in chkdsk /r hit enter if you get cannot run now message then type in Y and hit enter or type exit and restart the computer and let chkdsk run.

Please follow the Prework link found in the signature line for either Jelly Bean or myself. As I stated before, "crazy" systems are seldom a result of Microsoft updates. I would suggest that you might have either a virus or malware problem complicating things.

check disk still doesn't run. Maybe it is a virus but my anti virus has not found any thing.

I do understand that "chkdsk" isn't working yet. If you could kindly follow the instructions in PREWORK using the applications suggested by PCHF to troubleshoot viruses and malware, I would appreciate it. That will help us to identify and repair your issue.
