Question Stuck in Reboot Loop

I have a friend's laptop which I'm hoping to be able to fix for him with your help.

Its a Fujitsu Siemens - Amilo and the operating software is Windows XP Media Center Edition. Unfortunately this is pretty much everything I know about the laptop.

The problem started when he installed the latest Windows Update. It asked him to restart to complete the installation and since then has been stuck in a reboot loop. It will not start in safe mode. The Blue Screen of Death appears momentarily before it restarts but does not stay on the screen long enough for me to read it.

He does not have a boot/recovery disk.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Gillmav & Welcome to PCHF,

when you hit F8 and get a prompt to select what you want to do have you tried "start from last known good configuration"

Thanks for the welcome.

I have tried that option but it reboots, just as it does if I select any of the safe mode options.

I'm guessing that it probably was. He installed any and all updates as and when he was notified of them. Unfortunately he didn't pay any attention to what update it was so I can't be sure.
