Exclamation I can't install IE 7

Hi !
I formatted my computer and installed Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. I try to install Internet Explorer 7, however I get this message error :

I've tried this : When you try to install Windows Internet Explorer 7, you receive an error message: "Internet Explorer 7 could not be installed". but no way.

I tried to install all the updates from Microsoft, but I can't install some updates. I used Dial-a-Fix to fix the updates problems but, I get this error :
"Error - 2147319780 was encountered while trying to register c:\windows\system32\shdocvw.dll. the error text is : Error accessing the OLE registry"

I tried to delete and overwrite the file "shdocvw.dll" but in vain.

Please, is there a solution.

Hello NourinE and welcome back.

Some possible solutions Internet Explorer 7 Installation Fails - How to fix this issue - Softpedia

You might also try taking your fresh install up to the Service Pack 3 level.

May I suggest, if all else fails, that you install either Firefox 3 or Google Chrome? Both are faster and generally better than IE.

I agree with the post that prefers Firefox and you might try that but for what it's worth if it were me and I was encountering this kind of hassle on a fresh install I would run it again.

I don't know why but at times installations get messed up and the thing here is that after a format and fresh install there really shouldn't be any issues installing IE7 as I've done it numerous times.

The main thing is to make sure any antivirus software is off and the last few times I've done it I installed all the Microsoft updates before I installed IE7.

I mean FireFox would likely work and it's easy enough to find out but it tends to bug me when I know there's something on my system that doesn't function as it should.

You might also make sure that any addons that you may have on IE are removed such as Flash since at times they cause a lot of grief.

You can always put it back once the installation is successful.

I think I'll install Firefox if I find no solution.
I disabled my Anti-virus before starting the installation.
by the way, after the format, I installed and uninstalled some programmes, may be that what caused a problem for IE7 to create keys in registry.
I ran Microsoft updates, but some updates were unstalled successfully and others weren't !!!
I will try to uninstall any add-ons, then install IE 7.
Thank you so much LoneWlf, you're very helpful to me.
