What do you mean by a real CD?
If the CD came supplied with a new computer it means it is OEM it will go on any computer and use the computers origonal Key. If it is retail and was bought as a seprate purchase with the key supplied with the disk then you cannot use it. Wich of the above is it?

my dell didnt come with a restore disk so i used my friends retail xp cd because all i needed was the recover console. however after replacing the files above it boots back up normally to the login screen but my mouse and keyboard are not working so i cant login.
